THE SOUND OF MUSIC 2006-2007

Lavey Arts and Drama Society, with the support of Termoneeny Community Group, are once again providing music classes over the winter period. Building on their success of previous years, the Society is offering lessons in the Guitar, Fiddle, Tin Whistle and Bodhran.

Over seventy pupils of all ages have already signed up for the new programme. Project director, Ignatius McGlinchey, stated how he was impressed by the sustained level of interest and outlined how the classes brought young and old together. He hoped that such commitment would create a strong artistic base in the area and provide an outlet for community participation for many years to come.

The Termoneeny Community Group is presently working on a three year plan to inject more resources into arts and in particular the music tradition in the Parish. The Group are very appreciative of all the teachers involved and to the pupils who take part in the sessions. Anyone interested in taking up a new instrument or who wish to fine tune theirs musical skills should contact either the Group or Mr Ignatius McGlinchey.
