TERMONEENY COMMUNITY GROUP, LAVEY

Book Launch and Local History Night

South Derry Historian and author - John Hughes - will launch his latest book, “The History of the Townland of Rocktown and its People” in Mayogall Hall, Lavey, this coming Sunday. John, whose previous books have included: My Lavey Childhood; Toome Airfield; and Quiet Places of the Lower Bann, will give a talk on the Rocktown area, which will be supplemented with readings from his latest publication.

Fr. Pat Crilly - a native of Rocktown - who is both well acquainted with the area and Johns work, will introduce proceedings. Finally, the Termoneeny Community Group, who have assisted John in publishing the book, will give a brief outline on their present history project - The Townland and Placenames of Lavey. This is an informal occasion and everyone, particularly ‘Rocktonians,’ are invited to come along and contribute. The event will commence at 6:00pm sharp this Sunday, the 21st of November. Admission is £3. Copies of Johns book will be available for purchase.

Forthcoming Pantomime

The musicians are in place, the singers are on song and the cast are coming along but the Emperor has got no clothes. In fact most of the cast have yet to be ‘fitted-out.’ If you can darn, stitch, mend, fix or help with make-up then please come along. You’re assistance will be much appreciated and will greatly help to make the pantomime a success.
